How to Fund K-12 School Security Improvements
Here are the conventional and unconventional methods one Ohio district used to pay for its security and emergency preparedness upgrades.
Prompted by the Newtown, Conn., mass shooting, school districts around the nation are scrambling to improve their security. They are looking for both short-term fixes and long-term solutions.
The good news is there are many solutions available today; be they increasing the presence of school resource officers (SROs), adding counselors, improving access control or increasing training of campus staff and teachers. The bad news? Many district officials don’t know where to find funds for these improvements.
