Video Shows Moments Before and After Fatal Hospital Shooting

The footage appears to show multiple security lapses at the facility.

The Florida attorney’s office released surveillance video from a fatal hospital shooting in July.

The short video shows David Owens entering the Parrish Medical Center in Titusville and walking past an unattended reception area.

The footage does not show the actual shooting.

Owens, 29, was recently found to be mentally incompetent to stand trial by a judge after he was accused of killing a patient and an employee at the hospital, according to wftv.com.

The video also shows employees running from the hallway where Owens emerged following the shooting.

Eventually unarmed hospital security officers tackled Owens and held him down until police arrived.

Owens spoke incoherently to investigators after his arrest. The suspect’s mother says she’s tried to get him mental health treatment for years.

A victim’s relative, who has viewed the video, has speculated that Owens has been acting to receive a lighter sentence.

Owens will undergo a mental health status screening in April.
