StreamQuik Introduces Active Shooter Technology

The technology allows students to send alerts to police that give real-time video feeds.

In today’s climate, it has become critical for the private sector to find effective ways to provide law enforcement with real-time situational awareness in order to coordinate a response to the growing number of public safety threats. To save lives, protect against property damage and to reduce liability exposure, StreamQuik has introduced VidAware, a line of integrated, simple-to-use live video and alert notification solutions that provide security and first responders with critical information to coordinate a fast and effective response.

By simply pushing a button that’s paired with a person’s smartphone, an alert for help can be sent directly to security, police vehicles and dispatchers where live, on-scene video from the source of the alert can be viewed by first-responders in real time.

With StreamQuik’s VidAware technology, law enforcement and other mutual aid agencies can respond more quickly while viewing live security-camera video from inside hospitals, shopping malls, schools, military bases and other high-profile community assets right from within their vehicles prior to their arrival. This advanced-notification capability enables first responders to proactively make more informed decisions regarding the deployment of manpower and resources to help prevent loss of life while minimizing property damage and post-event liability claims. In addition to being used during public safety emergencies, VidAware is also an ideal surveillance tool for preventing minor security incidents from escalating.

Security camera system operators can also broadcast live audio along with their security-camera video to describe incident details to responding officers to maximize their situational awareness while in route to the incident.

To address privacy concerns, VidAware lets users control what first responders see and when they see it. When mutual aid agency coordination and response is needed, live video can be easily shared on the fly with other agencies by simply clicking a button that sends a pre-written video-sharing an invitation message with an embedded link to the live video. Optional SMS messaging capability is also available to support silent “we need help” communications.

A key differentiator from other technologies on the market is VidAware’s simple and easy-to-use workflow coupled with the fact that it can be integrated with just about any existing CCTV camera system without the need for any special software or proprietary hardware.
