School Security Officer Given Probation for Sexually Assaulting Student

The officer was part of a private security force employed by the district.

A man who worked as a security officer for a New Jersey high school will be on probation for three years and do community service after pleading guilty to sexually assaulting a student.

Ross Vega-Amador, 35, had pleaded guilty to one count of endangering a child for sexually assaulting a 17-year-old student on two separate occasions in 2015.

Vega-Amador worked at Trenton Central High School until his arrest in June last year, according to nj.com.

The district had previously suspended Vega-Amador when officials opened an investigation into allegations he’d had a relationship with a 17-year-old student. District officials held a meeting with district security head Irving Bradley Jr., the student and the student’s mother in May 2015.

After the student denied any relationship with Vega-Amador, the officer was brought back to work for two months until his arrest.

Vega-Amador pleaded guilty to the endangering a child charge in exchange for prosecutors to drop the sexual assault charge. He will do 40 hours of community service as part of the plea deal.

The school district, Trenton Public Schools, uses the private security company Bowles Corporate Services at its schools.
