Q&A: National Forum Attendee David Buerger
Hear first hand what motivated a Campus Security Director to register himself and his team for the National Forum.
David Buerger, Director of Security at the Bullis School, said the CS National Forum is a great way to network with professionals and stay proactive when managing school safety.
David Buerger is the Director of Security at the Bullis School in Potomac, MD. Bullis is a 102 acre coeducational independent college preparatory school for students grades 2-12. The Campus Safety Conference Team asked David some questions on why he felt his team needed to be at the National Forum.
Q: What made you decide to attend the Campus Safety National Forum and why did you feel it was important to bring your team?
A: Even though I have 30 years of policing, investigative, and school safety experience, continued professional development and networking are critical. I have been very impressed by subject matter covered in Campus Safety Magazine related to the management of school safety. When I saw the variety of topics covered at the Washington D.C. forum, I felt it was the perfect opportunity to bring our team of safety professionals to the conference.
Q: What conference topics are of most interest to you?
A: I am particularly interested in the value of social media in identifying at risk individuals, preventing targeted violence at school, and using exercises to evaluate plans.

A: My top 3 security and safety concerns are:
Traffic safety
Active threats spilling over from the community
Athletic event security and safety
