Pennsylvania Districts Add Armed Officers

As many as five districts in the Pittsburgh area have added armed officers on campus to increase security.

PITTSBURGH – Several school districts have added armed officers on their campuses in an effort to increase security.

Currently, Butler Area School District, Franklin Regional School District, Gateway School District, Mount Pleasant Area School District and South Allegheny School District have armed officers on campus, WPXI.com reports.

In the past couple years, the number of districts using armed security officers has increased from 118 to 141.

However, Pittsburgh Public Schools, the city’s largest school district, does not plan t arm its school police officers.
