A patient in a New Jersey hospital threw his blood at three security officers and claimed to have HIV on March 11.
Miguel Collado, 23, was charged with aggravated assault for the incident, reports nj.com.
Collado was being treated in Jersey City Medical Center’s emergency room for a laceration on his hand when the incident occurred.
Police say he threw the blood from his hand wound onto the three security officers’ face, skin and eyes before stating “I have HIV, now you’re blessed.”
It is unclear if Collado actually has the virus.
The officers were immediately treated at the hospital and given antibiotics.
Collado appeared in court for the charges March 15.
