Ohio Attorney General Announces 3 Campus Sexual Assault Initiatives

Resources include a $3 million competitive grant, memorandum of understanding guidance and training.

Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine announced on Wednesday several initiatives to help Ohio’s colleges and universities better respond to sexual assaults.

Competitive grants totaling $3 million will soon be dedicated to strengthening sexual assault victim advocacy programs on campus.

Additionally, the Attorney General’s Office has prepared resources for schools in Ohio to develop agreements with law enforcement, prosecutors and victim services providers. The office says these memorandums of understanding clearly define each party’s role when a sexual assault is reported, which is important since law enforcement investigations and campus disciplinary proceedings often commence simultaneously.
