New Jersey School District Scans Visitors with LobbyGuard Systems
The Englewood Cliffs district installed two LobbyGuard systems in their school buildings.
A New Jersey school district superintendent of schools says their addition of card reader kiosks has made the buildings more secure. Englewood Cliffs added two of the LobbyGuard products to the front entrance of their two school buildings this year at a cost of $5,895 each.
What the system does is scan a driver’s license, performing a background check and vetting to see who is allowed to be in the building. If the scanning finds a criminal offense, you are barred from entering from the building, according to NorthJersey.com.
The school district held a meeting on Nov. 4 to reviews their process of admitting. One suggestion was exempt volunteers from having to go through the checking process, but that measure was dismissed. Superintendent Robert Kravitz said parents have been supportive of the plan.
