N.H. School Board Approves $25K School Security Grant

The money will go toward video surveillance, video intercom and access control systems.

A school board in New Hampshire voted unanimously to accept a state grant for surveillance systems and other security equipment April 18.

The $25,470 grant is expected to provide around half of the funds necessary to install video surveillance systems in all of Manchester’s city schools, according to the Union Leader.

The Supplemental School Security Grant, awarded to the city by New Hampshire Homeland Security and Emergency Management Department, requires the district to match whatever amount is rewarded.

The following security upgrades have already been planned:

  • Gossler Park Elementary will receive $8,638 for a camera system
  • Northwest Elementary will receive $6,003 for a surveillance system
  • Smyth Road Elementary will receive $836 for a video Aiphone intercom system
  • Weston Elementary will receive $4,584 for a surveillance system
  • Parkside Middle School will receive $24,613 for a surveillance system
  • Southside Middle School will receive $916 for an access control system
  • Central High School will receive $1,480 for a video Aiphone intercom system
  • West High School will receive $2,400 for a video Aiphone intercom system and an access control system
