Man Charged for Fight in Hospital Delivery Room

The man allegedly kicked a pregnant woman as a hospital security officer had him in a bear hug.

A Miami man was arrested after police say he assaulted another man in his ex-girlfriend’s hospital delivery room May 22.

Trayevon Braye, 21, was charged with aggravated battery on a victim the offender should have known was pregnant and assault for his actions at Memorial Regional Hospital.

Court records show Braye entered the pregnant woman’s hospital room around 10:30 p.m. and began to yell obscenities. Braye briefly left the room before returning and getting into a physical altercation with the woman’s boyfriend.

A nurse notified security officers, and Braye allegedly kicked the woman in the chest as three officers attempted to restrain him, according to the Sun Sentinel. Braye was held in custody by hospital security until police arrived.

A spokesperson for the Hollywood, Florida facility says security is a major priority in maternity areas of the building and that there is an additional security check in all delivery room areas.

The hospital employs off-duty police officers in addition to security guards to maintain hospital security.
