IU Title IX Director Accused of Sexual Assault
Both the accused and the alleged victim are part of the Association for Student Conduct Administration.

Indiana University and the Fort Worth Police Department have opened investigations into a university official accused of sexual assault.
Jason Casares, IU Associate Dean of Students and Deputy Title IX Director, has been accused of sexually assaulting a colleague at a conference on student conduct in December, according to idsnews.com.

Casares has denied the claims and criticized the accuser for making “inappropriate and false public statements.”
Casares has been placed on administrative leave at IU and the university is reviewing all of the sexual misconduct cases he was involved in as part of his job with the school.
New York University’s Jill Creighton, who works as an assistant director for global community standards, claims Casares took advantage of her when she drank too much at the Association for Student Conduct Administration, or ASCA, conference two months ago.
When Creighton learned that Casares would still be allowed to present at the ASCA conference that took place Feb 3-6, she posted an open letter to fellow ASCA members talking about her experience. Crieghton has also discussed the alleged assault on social media.
Casares resigned as ASCA president-elect on Jan. 29 but remains a member of the organization. Creighton has taken a leave of absence from her role on the ASCA Board of Directors.
ASCA hired an independent investigator to review Creighton’s claims in December, but the issue was resolved after the investigator could not substantiate Creighton’s story.
Casares has worked at IU since 2011. During that time he has helped shape school policies regarding sexual assault claims and oversaw sexual assault hearings involving students.
