Investigation into Virginia Military Institute Closed

The Virginia Military Institute is no longer under investigation for violating Title IX.

Federal investigators concluded a Title IX review of the Virginia Military Institute on Wednesday.

The Office for Civil Rights, the enforcement arm of the Education Department, had been investigating sexual violence complaints since September 15 in an attempt to ensure the school had not violated Title IX.

School officials said the government did not find sufficient evidence to support allegations that the school mishandled a sexual assault report, according to stripes.com.

Virginia Military Institute, a military school in Lexington, Virginia, was one of a number of schools across the country under investigation for Title IX violations.
