Golf Cart Fatally Strikes 3-Year-Old at Aiken Regional Medical Center

The three-year-old girl was leaving the hospital with her family when a golf cart being driven by a security guard hit the child.

AIKEN COUNTY, S.C. – An Aiken Regional Medical Center security guard struck a three-year-old girl with a golf cart, resulting in the child’s death.

The Aiken Department of Public Safety responded to a call about a collision at the hospital around 1:35 p.m. When officers arrived on the scene, they found that the golf cart being driving by a security guard hit the child, WISTV.com reports.

The victim, identified by the hospital as Kirsten, was leaving the hospital with her family at the time of the accident.

Kirsten immediately received medical attention at the hospital, but was later transported to Georgia Regents University. She died on Tuesday around 6:52 a.m.

Hospital officials are currently investigating the incident.
