Frostburg State University will construct a 5,500-square-foot public safety building that will be more visible for students and parents.

FROSTBURG, Md. – Frostburg State University plans to build a new public safety building that is twice the size of its current security operations.

The current campus police station is 2,500 square feet. The new 5,500-square-foot facility will be located near the sports field and the university’s Stangle Building, Cumberland Times-News reports.

School officials said they wanted to move the public safety building to a more visible spot for students and their parents.

Construction on the new site will begin in 2016. The Maryland State Police will provide input so that the facility will meet the current law enforcement professionalism standards.
