Fla. College Locked Down After Student Brings Gun on Campus
Local deputies ordered the lockdown as they searched for the suspect.
Derrick Anderson turned himself in to deputies and faces charges including possession of a weapon on school property.
A student who said he was tired of life pulled out a handgun on a Florida college campus, prompting a brief lockdown Thursday.
A professor intervened and no one was injured in the incident. The student was charged with possession of a weapon on school property and larceny of a firearm, reports the Orlando Sentinel.

The incident began when 27-year-old Derrick Anderson approached an instructor around 8 a.m .on the campus of Seminole State College in central Florida.
Anderson reportedly thanked the teacher and said “I got to go” before pulling up his shirt and brandishing a handgun.
Court records show the instructor, William Warren, grabbed the gun and took the magazine out. Warren then threw both the gun and magazine into the woods and the two men walked into the instructor’s office.
Records show the student soon got aggressive with the instructor and went back outside to find the handgun. Warren called campus police, who contacted local deputies.
At 9:21 a.m., the deputies placed the school in a brief lockdown while they searched for the suspect for his own well being.
“Please go to a safe area and take precautions until given the all clear,” university officials said in a statement to the campus community.
The student turned himself in to deputies and the lockdown was lifted around 10:30 a.m.
Anderson reportedly told deputies he went to campus to say goodbye to his instructor. Deputies later discovered the gun was stolen in 2016.
The student was in the college’s adult High School GED program.
