CSU Hires New Title IX Compliance Officer

UCLA’s Thomason will be overseeing the entire system for California State University.

Pamela Thomason will be the new Title IX compliance officer for the California State University system, effective in December. She has been the Title IX compliance officer at UCLA since 2000.

While no Cal State campus is under investigation, Thomason said she will be looking at improvements from a June 2014 legislative audit of California universities that followed complaints from victims of alleged sexual assaults, according to 89.3 KPCC. Two CSU campuses were cited for not doing enough to post sexual assault polices or train employees such as sports coaches and resident advisors on how to handle reports of sexual violence.

Each of the CSU campuses has a Title IX coordinator and the chancellors’ office will be adding sexual assault advocates at each location. One of Thomason’s roles will be to support the efforts of coordinators and advocates.
