Could This Robot Be Your Next Campus Security Guard?

Here’s one robot that scans its environment to identify motion and signs of fire, smoke and gas leaks.

Don’t be alarmed if you see a robot patrolling the halls of your building; that’s just the security guard.

Yes, we have now reached the point where robots can provide round-the-clock monitoring of buildings. RAMSEE scans its environment to identify motion and signs of fire, smoke and gas leaks, as detailed by the Daily Mail. Gamma 2 Robotics designed the robot.

RAMSEE uses infrared vision, laser radar navigation, 360-degree cameras, heat sensing and toxic gas detection when scanning its surroundings. If they detect anything awry, they contact their human overseers.

Gamma 2 Robotics says the robot will do the job that the security industry struggles – particularly overnight security – to find staffing for and would be a cheaper alternative as well.
