Chicago College Student Threatens to Shoot “White Devils” on Campus
The student was arrested by the FBI without incident on Nov. 30 after the online threats.

A University of Illinois at Chicago student was arrested after threatening to shoot white students, staff members and policeman to avenge the death of a black man.
Jabari R. Dean, 21, posted his plan to “execute approximately 16 white male students and or staff” and “any number of white policeman” online and was taken into custody Nov. 30.
Police say Dean wanted to avenge the death of Laquan McDonald, a 17-year-old who was fatally shot by Chicago police officer Jason Van Dyke in Oct. 2014. Van Dyke was charged with first-degree murder last week after a video was released showing him shooting McDonald several times after the teen had fallen to the ground. Van Dyke fired 16 shots, which Dean said was why he wanted to kill 16 white people to “rid the world of the white devils.”

A district court affidavit shows Dean was planning to bring an assault rifle and two semi-automatic pistols to a quad on the University of Chicago campus and carry out his attack, according to the Washington Post.
The university cancelled classes Nov. 30 and the FBI arrested Dean without incident. He was charged with transmitting a threat in interstate commerce and could face up to five years in prison if convicted.
