Campus Safety Conference Brings Out School Officials, Police & Media

CBS Los Angeles covers the 2014 Campus Safety Conference held at the University of Southern California.

CBS Los Angeles reporter Dave Lopez covered the 2014 Campus Safety Conference, which was held at the at the Radisson Hotel Los Angeles Midtown, just across the street from the University of Southern California.

More than 300 police and school administrators met at the conference, held in conjunction with USC, to discuss keeping K-12 and university campuses safe nationwide.

The event included a day-and-a-half of sessions covering K-12 and higher-ed safety issues.

Topics included Clery Act compliance, lockdown procedures and mass notification emergency management (MNEC) notification systems.

Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) Police Chief Charlie Beck delivered the keynote address.

Additionally, nearly 40 sponsors showcased their products to help schools keep their campuses safe.
