The University of Cincinnati (UC) will spend $174,000 to improve off-campus security in response to a spike of robberies and assaults around the site’s borders.

CINCINNATI — The University of Cincinnati (UC) will spend $174,000 to improve off-campus security in response to a spike of robberies and assaults around the site’s borders.

The university will pay $158,000 to install five cameras on streets adjacent to its main campus and another 16,000 for more lighting in 60 spots on the southern perimeter of the college, Cincinnati.com reports.

Last month, UC also added patrols to help monitor the campus.
