5th Grader Allegedly Plots N.J. School Massacre

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A fifth grader at Wall Intermediate School here may face criminal charges for allegedly plotting a massacre similar to last December’s Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.

The 11-year-old student, whose name has not been released due to his age, has a history of psychological problems, and has been taken out of school, ABC News reports. Investigators said the child came nowhere near carrying out the attack, as he had no access to weapons or no means to get them.

Still, authorities are taking the incident seriously, as the student made a hit list naming 40 people he would like to harm on his home computer. Investigators believe some of the names were children in his class; however, the fact that he mentioned public figures, such as President Obama, proved to authorities that the boy’s plot was not well planned.

School administrators notified parents of the students named on the list.

Although no charges have been filed yet, the fifth grader is expected to face juvenile charges of communicating terroristic threats or similar charges.
