2 U of Miami Football Players Charged With Sexual Assault

Players admitted to allegedly raping a female classmate who was drunk and helpless.

CORAL GABLES, Fla.—Two linebackers for the University of Miami football team were arrested Tuesday on sexual battery charges and have been barred from the campus.

JaWand Blue and Alex Figueroa, both 20, voluntarily turned themselves into the authorities. The players admitted they bought alcohol for a female classmate and raped her several times in her dorm room over the 4th of July weekend while she was incapacitated, reports ABC News.

The victim reported the alleged assault to campus police, and local law enforcement investigated her claims.

Blue and Figueroa are the latest University of Miami football players to be kicked off the team due to alleged criminal behavior. In the past three years, five players in total have been dismissed from the team.
