20-Year-Old Charged in Fatal Shooting on St. Louis Job Corps Campus
A student at St. Louis Job Corps Center was charged with killing another student that he was planning on sharing a dorm room with.
A man was charged with first degree murder and armed criminal action on April 23 after killing his roommate in a dorm room on the St. Louis Job Corps Center campus.
Prosecutors charged Mathew Carlock after police say he shot Mathew Anderson, 21, once in the chest in his dorm room around 6 p.m. April 22. Carlock has been jailed on $1 million bail after turning himself in to University City police, according to fox2now.com.
Both students had recently arrived at the center, which is an entirely government-funded career training program for people aged 16 through 24 that features 108 dorm rooms. Police said Carlock was in the process of moving into the same dorm room as the victim when he shot him with a 9mm pistol. The motive was unclear.
Police allowed students to leave in small groups as they searched the campus. Between 300 and 400 students were on campus at the time of the shooting.
