UM Waited A Week To Give Rape Suspect’s Identity To Police

MISSOULA, Mont. — University of Montana officials waited a week before giving police the name of a male student accused of sexually assaulting two female students this month.

The man, a Saudi, lived in UM's international student housing, the Missoulian reports. Police have not been able to find or interview the man.

Some students have criticized UM officials for their handling of the case. An E-mail about the assaults was sent out at 4:51 p.m. on Feb. 17, the Friday before a three-day weekend, to university E-mail accounts that students said they rarely read.
