DeKalb, Ill. — A Northern Illinois University (NIU) police officer was charged with the alleged sexual assault of a female student after she reported the incident to campus police Oct. 28.
Andrew Rifkin allegedly assaulted the student while he was off duty on Oct. 14, NBC reports. Rifkin was fired from his job after NIU police conducted a preliminary investigation.
Rifkin could face up to 15 years in prison.
