Spotlight on 2011 Director of the Year Finalist Gerald Eugene Summers

Gerald Eugene Summers is the Director of Safety & Security for the Evansville Vanderburgh School Corp. in Evansville, Ind. Some of his accomplishments include:

  • Positive relationships with city and county officers, first responders and central dispatch resulted in his being assigned 800 MHz police, fire and ambulance radios and a central dispatch call number
  • Updated procedures for drills and convened meeting and trained staff on emergency procedures
  • Rewrote emergency plans for teachers, administrators, custodians and bus drivers
