OLDHAM COUNTY, Ky. — The Oldham County Schools district is awaiting approval to receive $1.8 million that it would use to upgrade security at its 19 schools.
The upgrades would include electronic hardware at school entrances, key fob access control systems, visitor entry phone and buzz-in systems, video surveillance, panic notification and door positions switches, according to The Courier-Journal. The majority of the funds — more than $850,000 — would be designated to video surveillance.
District officials will reconvene next month to determine a timeline for the installations, which could be completed in phases.
