KANSAS CITY, Mo. — A Kansas City school bus carrying football players was struck by five gunshots on Oct. 21 before it drove away from the district field at the former Southeast High School.
The bus was carrying students from the Southwest Early College Campus who had finished a game against students from the Afrikan Centered Education (ACE) Collegium Campus, The Kansas City Star reports. The ACE campus is at Southeast High, which has a football field by other district high schools.
No one was hit by the bullets, and district administrators did not immediately notify parents or report the incident to police. Southwest coach Tim Johnson stated he thought district administrators were going to report it.
The district also did not bring in a crisis team to the school to talk with students until Oct. 26.
