KNOXVILLE, Tenn. — On Wednesday, the Knoxville-Knox County Emergency Management Agency donated 90 weather radios to Knox County Schools. The radios will communicate warnings, forecasts and other information that will help school officials decide if they need to take action.
According to Steve Griffin, Knox County Schools Chief Security Officer, tornados, floods and other severe weather are more likely to hit the district than any other disaster, WBIR reports. He said the radios will go a long way in ensuring the safety of students and school employees.
Emergency officials purchased the radios with funding from a grant.
