LOS ANGELES — Four major hospitals are concerned over a freeway closure planned for mid-July, saying they are not adequately prepared for getting medical employees to work on time. The closure is expected to cause major delays.
The 405 Freeway through the Sepulveda Pass will be shut down for 53 hours, the Los Angeles Times reports. Hospital officials said the closure could compromise patient care. The 405 is the most heavily travelled freeway in the United States
At least 1,500 employees work at two University of California, Los Angeles, Veteran Affairs West Los Angeles Medical Center and St. John's Health Center during each 12-hour shift.
